Jake Billmeyer
Owner/National Sales Merchandiser
Jake Billmeyer joined Ben B. Schwartz in 2008 after graduating from the University of Michigan, Ross School of Business. Jake has made a tremendous impact on the growth of the company over the course of his tenure and embodies many of the same attributes that made his father successful. He currently works as an owner/operator, guiding the strategic direction of the company and acting as a merchandiser serving both local and national grocery chains.
Chris Billmeyer
President and CEO
Chris Billmeyer initially joined Ben B. Schwartz in the mid 70’s to take over Sam Schwartz’s responsibilities upon his retirement. Chris teamed up with Gary Schwartz and successfully ran the business for the next 20 years until he, along with his wife Janice, became the sole stockholders of Ben B. Schwartz. Chris’ tenacity and high performance standards are a large reason for the company’s success in how Ben B. Schwartz consistently delivers quality product for our customers. Now, with over 50 years of experience in the produce industry, Chris is still very involved in daily operations, while simultaneously mentoring his two sons Drew and Jake.
Drew Billmeyer
Owner/National Sales Merchandiser
Drew Billmeyer joined Ben B. Schwartz in 2013 after graduating from the University of Michigan, Ross School of Business and working for nine years as a stock options trader for Chicago based Wolverine trading. Drew immediately made an impact on sales growth through applying his previous professional experience to Ben B. Schwartz. He has a knack for building strong shipper partnerships, in order to provide our customers with the best quality product. He currently works as an owner/operator, guiding the strategic direction of the company while simultaneously acting as a merchandiser.

Dan Billmeyer
Dan Billmeyer has worked here at his family’s business since 1982. He is the quintessential iron man, having been on the front-line for his entire career. Those lucky enough to know him, understand that one of the keys to his success, aside from his intense and consistent work ethic, are his relationships with grower/shippers, customers, and co-workers.

Ralph Laderoot
Ralph Laderoot III likely has more fun than anyone you have met. Born in Michigan, Ralph moved to Arizona with his family, only to return to his home state and start working in the retail side of the produce business. He is a pillar of our sales team, having built/developed numerous commodity categories, from the ground up, into robust, high-quality, and consistent avenues of availability, through all sorts of crop and economic dynamics. He has worked with Ben B. Schwartz for almost 18 years.

Sean Serra
Sean Serra is new to Ben B. Schwartz as of 2017 but is not to the industry. He has been in the produce business his entire life, working for various family businesses, from retail markets to every aspect of wholesale throughout his career of nearly 15 years. In 2006, Sean started full-time at the Detroit Produce Terminal, unloading trucks and pulling orders as he worked his way up to sales and product management through his dedication and hard work. He has built relationships with growers, shippers, logistic companies, and customers alike that don’t stop at the end of the day’s business.

Sal Cipriano
Salvatore (Sal) Cipriano has been a fixture here at the Detroit produce terminal for almost 55 years. His grandfather, father and uncle preceded him in the trade, building a business that found a niche selling fresh fruit and vegetables across the border and into The Canadian cities of Toronto, Ontario and Montreal, Quebec. A native of Grosse Pointe, Sal is respected internationally.

Armond Lombardi
Armond Lombardi is 38 years old and has been in the produce business for the last 19 of them. Growing up, he worked in various fruit markets in Metro Detroit, and spent his summers working on the warehouse floor, here at the Detroit Produce Terminal. In 2000, Armond started full-time with Ben B. Schwartz and Sons, Inc.

Operations

Bill Loupée
Chief Operating Officer
Bill Loupée brings over a decade of supply chain knowledge to the Ben B. Schwartz team, as well as leadership experience organizing effective teams, driving process improvement, and leveraging technology to maximize efficiency. Bill held previous roles in Operations Management at Coyote Logistics (Chicago, IL) and as Executive Vice President at Sonwil Distribution Center and Sonwil Transportation/ Logistics (Buffalo, NY). He is tasked with developing and overseeing day-to-day administrative and operations functions. Bill holds a Master’s Degree from Michigan State University in Logistics, Materials, and Supply Chain Management, and is a licensed US Customs Broker.
Jeremy Condit
Director of Transportation
Jeremy Condit recently joined the transportation team in October 2020 and is the newest member of Ben B. Schwartz and Sons, Inc. Jeremy brings nearly ten years of high-level transportation experience to the team. Previously he worked for Coyote Logistics – A UPS Company in Chicago and subsequently in Detroit. He held roles as a carrier sales rep, manager of multiple carrier sales teams, and most recently in fleet solutions. In his free time, you can find him spending time with his wife (Laura) and 2 children (Mason and Ella). He also enjoys Michigan Athletics, the Detroit Lions and playing golf when able.
Ryan Elfline
Controller
Ryan is a licensed CPA with over 10 years of accounting experience and strong skills surrounding budgeting/forecasting, cash flow management, and financial statement preparation. He has a strong passion for analytics and works to drive change through more efficient and defined processes. Ryan comes from the automotive industry centered around manufacturing and has a B.A. in Accounting from Michigan State University.
Rob Chaplen
Logistics Manager
Rob Chaplen’s tenure at Ben B. Schwartz and Sons, Inc. has allowed him to experience several different roles in the company, from floor operations to transportation. As a result, his industry knowledge and expertise allow Rob to excel in his current position, planning and executing freight movements.
Pedro Zayaz
Floor Operations Manager
Pedro Zayas is the driving force behind floor operations at Ben B. Schwartz. He strategically and efficiently orchestrates inbound and outbound product flow, while simultaneously managing the warehouse. Pedro is tasked with leading the floor operations team and successfully executing efficient and safe handling of product, coupled with timely delivery to our customers.
Nellie Monks
Accounting Manager
Nellie Monks is approaching 20 years of being a key contributor to Ben B. Schwartz, through her leadership of the accounting and administrative teams. She brings to the table deep knowledge of ERP system functionality, the ability to maximize the effectiveness of her team, and a proven record of success in working cross-functionally with other departments within the company.
Kyle Stone
Special Projects
Kyle Stone started working at Ben B. Schwartz and Sons, Inc. in 2006. Initially hired as a buyer/salesman, he became the company’s Chief Operating Officer, until recently retitling to Special Projects.
